{"id":5433,"date":"2018-08-06T23:50:00","date_gmt":"2018-08-06T22:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fairlabor.org\/?post_type=report&#038;p=5433"},"modified":"2025-11-13T16:34:26","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T16:34:26","slug":"apple-tree-honduras","status":"publish","type":"report","link":"https:\/\/www.fairlabor.org\/reports\/apple-tree-honduras\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple Tree, El Salvador"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"rich-text section\" data-dc-animate>\n    <div class=\" fade-animate \"  data-dc-animate-ref=\"fadeBlocks[]\">\n        \n\n<p>On December 6, 2017, the Fair Labor Association (\u201cFLA\u201d) initiated a Third Party Complaint from the Union of the Textile, Similar and Related Industries of El Salvador (\u201cSITSCES\u201d), affiliated with the Union Federation of El Salvador (\u201cFESS\u201d).&nbsp; FESS\/SITSCES alleged violations of labor standards and of the FLA Workplace Code of Conduct at the factory Apple Tree S.A. de C.V., located in San Salvador, El Salvador.&nbsp; FLA member company Delta Apparel and affiliates Dallas Cowboys Merchandising and VF Corporation were sourcing from the factory at the time of the Complaint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specifically, the Complaint alleged lack of compensated time for workers to attend medical appointments; noncompliance with legal provisions regarding compensation for the first three days of medical leave, Christmas Bonus, annual leave, and overtime; off-the-clock work without compensation; health and safety issues including the ineffectiveness of the health and safety committee and inadequate filtering of drinking water; failure to inform workers of emergency calls received from the outside during working hours; and preferential treatment of other unions recognized in the factory.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note: <em>Delta Galil Industries, Ltd. and Delta Apparel, Honduras operate entirely independently and have no corporate or business relationship.
