The principles provide foundational and operational guidance for companies to apply in their workplace labor standards management systems in upstream supply chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-inherit-color has-text-color\">When an agricultural company joins FLA, its leadership makes a commitment to these FLA principles and agrees to uphold the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairlabor.org\/accountability\/standards\/agriculture\/ag-code\/\">Fair Labor Code<\/a> in its supply chain for the commodities in scope as part of continuous improvement. Member companies are assessed regularly against the principles as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairlabor.org\/accountability\/fair-labor-accreditation\/process\/\">Fair Labor Accreditation process<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"rich-text section\" data-dc-animate>\n    <div class=\" fade-animate \"  data-dc-animate-ref=\"fadeBlocks[]\">\n        \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-sky-900-color has-text-color\">Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing for Companies with Agricultural Supply Chains<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-inherit-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\">1A. <strong>Top Management Commitment and Workplace Labor Standards: <\/strong>Participating Company is committed to accountability and transparency through established workplace standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-inherit-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\">1B. <strong>Risk Assessment and Traceability: <\/strong>Participating Company uses risk assessment to prioritize its workplace labor compliance program implementation and progressively increase supply chain traceability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-inherit-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\">2. <strong>Responsible Sourcing and Procurement:<\/strong> Participating Company aligns its sourcing\/procurement practices with a commitment to workplace labor standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-inherit-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\">3. <strong>Company Staff Training: <\/strong>Participating Company identifies and ensures that the specific personnel responsible for implementing labor standards (at head office and in the regions) are trained and are aware of the labor standards criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-inherit-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\">4. <strong>Business Partner Training and Implementation: <\/strong>Participating Company obtains commitment, and drives business partner awareness of labor standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-inherit-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\">5. <strong>Monitoring:<\/strong> Participating Company conducts labor standards compliance monitoring at the farm level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-inherit-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\">6. <strong>Functioning Grievance Mechanisms:<\/strong> Participating Company ensures workers, farmers, and their family members (where applicable) have access to functioning grievance mechanisms, which include multiple reporting channels of which at least one is confidential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-inherit-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\">7. <strong>Collection and Management of Compliance Information:<\/strong> Participating Company collects, manages, and analyzes labor standards compliance information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-inherit-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\">8. <strong>Timely and Preventative Remediation: <\/strong>Participating Company works with business partners to remediate in a timely and preventative manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-inherit-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\">9. <strong>Consultation with Civil Society: <\/strong>Participating Company identifies, researches and engages with relevant local and international labor non-governmental organizations, trade unions, and other civil society institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-inherit-color has-text-color has-large-font-size\">10. <strong>Verification Requirements:<\/strong> Participating Company meets FLA verification and program
